BBC micro:bit

The BBC micro:bit is the modern successor to the BBC Micro of the 1980s, which introduced a generation of children to the world of computing. While inheriting a 30-year legacy, the BBC micro:bit is 18 times faster and 70 times smaller than its predecessor. This powerful, portable, and fully programmable computer was designed by the BBC and a consortium of partners to actively engage children in software coding and the creation of new devices controlled by it.

Featuring a 5x5 LED matrix, two built-in buttons, a compass, an accelerometer, and Bluetooth connectivity, the device provides a fantastic entry point into the world of programmable components. The main input/output rings can be used as outputs for controlling LEDs, motors, and various other devices, as well as inputs for connecting external sensors and switches. These rings are large enough for young learners to easily connect crocodile clips or conductive threads.
